Colour And Turbidity Meter

The SRI Colour and Turbidity Meter (originally developed by the Sugar Milling Research Institute of South Africa), provides realtime, online measurement of colour and turbidity in sugar mill and sugar refinery process streams. Typically, these units are used to measure the characteristics of clarified juice or evaporator supply juice (ESJ), evaporator syrup, and sugar melt through to fine liquor.

Major features

  • Low cost easy operation – available in turbidity-only (lower cost) or colour and turbidity models, to keep costs in line with intended duty. One 4-20mA analogue output is provided for each duty, as well as local display of measured colour and/ or turbidity.
  • Low maintenance – the meter is self-calibrating, with hourly automatic calibration checks and automatic compensation for cell fouling.
  • Industrial grade field mounting – the meter is provided as a self-contained unit ready for power, signal, air and process connection. Light sources and sensors are solid-state devices, providing long life and extreme ruggedness.

SRI’s colour and turbidity meter is sold as an electronics product ready for installation. SRI provides installation and operation instructions and advice by telephone to clients.

Commissioning

Most sugar factories commission their SRI colour and turbidity meters without external assistance. However we can provide engineers onsite to assist with commissioning if necessary.

Ongoing support

SRI colour and turbidity meters are rugged units, suitable for the harsh environment typical of a sugar mill. They will give many years of trouble-free service.

Email, phone and fax support is provided free for the life of the product.

In the unlikely event of failure, SRI provides spare parts, onsite servicing and a “return to base” repair facility. For full details, or to organise a repair use the contact details provided on this page.
