Flotation Syrup Clarifier
SRI’s flotation clarifier licensed design packages are offered through SRI to Australian and overseas clients. Our licensed design packages include these components:
- Complete fabrication drawings for the licensed number of flotation clarifiers, including ancillary equipment such as aeration systems, reaction tanks and additive preparation systems. The drawings are based on SRI's standard flotation clarifier designs, modified as required to suit your specific needs (note that supply of fabrication drawings is subject to strict confidentiality and usage restrictions);
- Piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs);
- Functional specification documents, covering the clarifier and control systems;
- Operator manual; and
- An on-site commissioning visit to assist with clarifier startup and optimisation.
Optional components can include:
- A pre-design site visit to confirm operational requirements.
- A fabrication visit to your nominated engineering works during clarifier fabrication, to confirm adherence to required standards of construction.
- Training programmes for operations personnel on-site by our experienced SRI clarification operators.
Many clarifier clients specify SRI's colour and turbidity meters for each clarifier, ensuring optimal syrup quality and reduced usage of additives.
An Overview of the SRI Flotation Clarifier
SRI flotation (syrup or melt) clarifiers are designed to operate with high viscosity syrups, such as final effect evaporator syrup and recycle melt streams. They are proven performers in sugar mills and sugar refineries and clients are reaping major benefits from their installation, including:
- High sugar quality – designed specifically for high viscosity syrups and liquors, SRI flotation clarifiers reduce turbidity by up to 90% and reduce colour by 10-40%.
- High productivity – syrup viscosity is reduced, giving increased crystal growth rates and improved pan and fugal stage productivity.
- Cost effective design – dispersed air or dissolved air injection systems, designed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques, provide the best match between cost and performance requirements.
Typical applications include syrup clarification on sugar mill syrups (colour & turbidity removal), melt clarification in sugar mills and refineries (colour & turbidity removal), scum desweetening in sugar refineries; and waste water treatment.
