We specialise in sugar-related science and engineering and we maintain a broad network of contacts and collaborations across a wide variety of Australian and international research facilities and commercial operations.

Our capabilities are used in a diverse range of fields, both with the sugar processing industry and other industries, including cement manufacture, through to expert witness activities, control of heat exchanger fouling, chemical analysis, the development of new processes and even the evaluation of materials for high wear applications.

Our portfolio includes:

  • Biomass combustion, pyrolysis and gasification;
  • Process mass and energy balance analysis;
  • Evaluation of new process concepts;
  • Management and removal of process equipment scaling;
  • Development of new process sensors;
  • Computational fluid dynamics studies;
  • Carbohydrate chemistry; and
  • Ethanol and other biomass-derived chemical products.
