SRI flotation (syrup or melt) clarifiers are designed to operate on high viscosity syrups, such as final effect evaporator syrup and recycle melt streams.
They are proven performers in the sugarcane processing industry and our clients are reaping major benefits from their installation, including:
- Ability to process high viscosity syrups and liquors;
- Smaller floor area requirement (rectangular systems); and
- Can be installed in factories practising sulphitation as well as factories that do not.
Design features
- Flotation by either dissolved air (DAF) or conventional techniques; and
- Conventional round tank design or rectangular vessel design.
Potential benefits for specific applications
- Reduction of up to 90% in turbidity;
- Reduction in colour of 10–40%;
- Reduced syrup viscosity;
- Increased crystal growth rates;
- Improved sugar quality;
- Increased pan stage and fugal station productivity;
- Reduced residual SO2 content of up to 50%;
- Reduction in total polysaccharides;
- Decreased ash in sugar of up to 40%; and
- Improvement in vacuum pan and fugal productivity.
Scope of Supply and Service
- Design of new clarifiers or upgrades to existing units (round or rectangle design);
- Aeration system design;
- Reaction tank design;
- Chemical addition system design;
- Piping and instrumentation diagrams and specifications;
- Control system specifications;
- Design tailored to suit client’s needs; and
- Commissioning service and after sales support.
SRI flotation clarifiers can be used for:
- Syrup clarification on raw sugar factory syrups (colour & turbidity removal);
- Melt clarification in raw sugar factories & refineries (colour & turbidity removal);
- Scum desweetening in sugar refineries; and
- Waste water treatment.
Design features
- Flotation by either dissolved air (DAF); or
- Conventional round tank design or rectangular vessel design.
