The SRI Mill Control System (MCS) is designed to produce an even flow of cane through the milling tandem, to maximise throughput and maximum juice extraction while maintaining a safe level of torque produced by individual milling units.

The even blanket of bagasse through the tandem produces consistent low final bagasse moisture and high extraction.

System features

  • SRI Chute Height Sensor for control of bagasse level in chutes; and
  • Overload protection and control of mill drive equipment.

System benefits

  • Quick response time to variations in mill load;
  • Good feed control;
  • Maximised extraction; and
  • Consistent final bagasse moisture for improved bagasse combustion to maximise steam production.
  • Torque Control to:
    • Reduce mill overload conditions;
    • Protect mill rolls;
    • Protect tailbars;
    • Protect pressure feed chutes; and
    • Prolong gearing life.
