SRI markets the Colour and Turbidity Meter, originally developed by the Sugar Milling Research Institute of South Africa, for on-line measurement of colour and turbidity in process streams.

The Colour and Turbidity Meter has many features which clients find extremely useful in maintaining sugar quality.

Benefits are:

  • Simultaneous measurement of turbidity and colour;
  • Useful in raw sugar factories and refineries for products such as clarified juice, evaporator syrup, sugar melt to fine liquor;
  • Local display of colour and turbidity plus one 4-20 mA output for each of the two measurements;
  • Self-calibrating with automatic calibration checks hourly and automatic compensation for cell fouling;
  • Simple maintenance, cleaning required once a week;
  • Alarm for instrument malfunction;
  • User programmable alarms; and
  • Solid-state light sources and sensors for extreme ruggedness.

SRI’s colour and turbidity meter is sold as an electronics product ready for installation. SRI provides installation and operation instructions and advice by telephone to clients.
