SRI is committed to helping clients produce high quality bagasse as an energy feedstock and to improving bagasse storage and handling practices.
Clients can benefit from our expertise in energy efficiency and we can propose options to achieve significant advantages in optimum bagasse storage and handling.
Research projects include:
- The sizing of on-line bagasse storage silos of up to 1000 tonnes capacity to meet factory operational requirements;
- Investigation into bagasse pelleting, baling and storage;
- The manufacture and storage of bagasse bales with particular emphasis on bacterial spore development during storage;
- Spontaneous combustion in bagasse stockpiles;
- Bagasse storage and reclamation options for large tonnages and reclamation rates, including combinations of road transport, conveyors with stacker/reclaimer, pneumatic and hydraulic transport;
- Effective bagasse dewatering; and
- Ambient drying of large-scale bagasse and trash (leaf matter) stockpiles to increase income from power generation.
